Some of Rachel’s favorite Spring photo locations!

There is something just so exciting about spring. After our long Utah winters, seeing the sunshine, greenery, and flowers is simply the happiest view!

Here are a few of my favorite locations in the spring in Utah!

The State Capitol Building

The first place in Utah to bloom is the State Capitol Building. The grounds are circled by beautiful cherry trees.

Tips for this location:

  • Follow @utstatecapitol on Instagram. They’re great about keeping their followers up to date on the state of the blossoms.
  • The blossoms usually start blossoming the 2nd week of April. This is dependent on the winter though!
  • This location gets insanely busy, it is a huge tourist destination when the blossoms are at their peak! I definitely suggest shooting there in the morning if you can make it work. I know, it’s not ideal. But you wont have to fight the crowds for a parking place or spot to shoot.

The tulip Festival

Thanksgiving Point’s tulip festival is another great spring location. With so many colorful flowers, and the carefully manicured gardens, this location is one of the most stunning in the spring.

Tips for this location:

  • There is a photography fee for this location. $100 for the Ashton Gardens and $50 for the Water Tower Gardens. Client is responsible to pay the fee.
  • This location requires a lot of walking, but is wheelchair friendly. Golf carts are also available to rent if desired.

Provo Walking Path

The next trees to blossom are typically trees around town. I love this little walking path in Provo, with various blossoming trees and lots of green!

Tips for this location:

  • This location has a paved path, so it is wheelchair accessible.
  • No fees here. It can get a little busy with foot traffic.

Provo apple orchard

I love this location! The blossoms are a little unpredictable, but it seems that they are really amazing every other year. So 2024 should be a great year at this location!

Tips for this location:

  • There is a $20 fee, which must be paid at the building up the road. They monitor this location during the blossom season, and will ticket if you don’t pay the fee.
  • The photographer must fill out the contract in the building, so if we shoot here, I’ll take care of that!
  • This location gets busy, but it’s also quite large and isn’t usually a problem. But please be considerate of other people taking photos while you’re there.

Eagle Mountain Hills

This location is one of my very favorites in the spring! We can get both incredible mountain views, green hills, and blossoms, all in one!

Tips for this location:

  • This location requires you to drive on a dirt road. My mini van has no problem with it, but I want you to be prepared.
  • No fees associated with this location.
  • The blossom area is near a fairly busy road, so you’ll want to keep a close eye on your kiddos.

Provo Mountain Wild Flowers

These yellow flowers, called Mules Ear, are the very first wild flowers we get in Utah. These usually arrive in early May along the foothills of the Wasatch Front. This location also gets spectacular views and really emphasizes the gorgeous Utah mountains.

Tips for this location:

  • Parking at this location can be a smidge tricky. You cannot park on the road, so make sure you follow my parking instructions so you don’t get a ticket.
  • This is not an accessible location, it requires a short, steep hike. It’s worth it though!

Poppy Fields

This location is very unique! The poppies in this location bloom in late May/early June, and it is just spectacular!

Tips for this location:

  • This location gets insanely busy, so I will only shoot here in the mornings. I know that’s tricky, but it’s not worth trying to go there in the evening.
  • There is no location fee at this location.
